The Teaching of the Buddha mainly concerns the part about the mind. He has talked about mental disorders and about the treatment of mental illness. The Buddha has identified sadness as one of the main causes of the onset of mental disturbances. Because of the death of her only son, Kisa Gotami lost control of her mental faculties. In a crazy mood she went in search of a cure for her dead son. When she did couldn't find anywhere, she appealed to the Buddha who realized that he couldn't convince her until her mental balance was restored used to be. He said he could help her, but she hadn't understood yet How. He instructed her to bring a mustard seed to a household to go get. He added that that seed had to come being from a household where no one had yet died... When she wasn't could satisfy the Buddha's request, she concluded that death was inevitable, and so was her only son.
