After his Enlightenment under the Bodhi tree at Uruvela, the Buddha thought deeply about the law of dependent origination (paticcasamuppada). He thought about how certain things come into existence because of the conditions that cause suffering in the past and present such as ignorance, mental factors, consciousness, birth, death, etc. Then thought he considered the cessation of these things when their cause was removed. Then he considered the origin and cessation of all conditioned[1] things and their dependence on things in the present, in the past and in the future.
