Surrounded by rice fields, the monastery is situated in a quiet area about 130 km from Bangkok.
Wat "Tung", as locals call it, can be reached by bus from the Northern or Southern Bus Terminal.
Take an air-conditioned bus to Tachang and get off in Sam Chuk (20 km before Tachang).
- TEACHER:
Acharn Sangwahn, the abbot, is 85 years old and an excellent meditation master.
He speaks Thai; English and German translators are always present.
- MEDITATION:
All meditation practices mentioned in the Buddhist scriptures are taught,
depending on the character and experience of the student.
- FOOD:
One meal per day with a rich variety of Thai dishes (buffet style).
The meditator may choose freely.
About 30 monks, 5 novices, 10 male lay practitioners, 100 nuns and female lay practitioners live at Wat Tung. There are also 3 Western monks and 2 Western nuns living in the temple for many years.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?
The willingness to practice and comfortable white clothing (also available in the temple shop). As this is a monastery, please avoid shorts, miniskirts, sleeveless or similar clothing.
Meditators should observe the following 8 precepts:
- Do not kill or harm.
- Do not take what is not given.
- No sexual activity.
- Do not lie or speak harshly.
- No alcohol or drugs.
- No eating after 12:00 noon (fruit juice or sour milk allowed).
- No entertainment. No jewelry, makeup or perfume.
- Do not sleep on high or luxurious beds.
Following these rules helps develop concentration quickly. Exceptions may be made for health reasons.
