Vipassana (Insight) Meditation is the microscope of the Noble (Ariya).
Samatha (Concentration) Meditation is the telescope of the Buddhist.

Morality is the ladder that leads to concentration.
Concentration is the ladder that leads to wisdom.

1.  Right View:
Seeing the Four Noble Truths:

The Truth of the Origin of Suffering
The Truth of the Cessation of Suffering
The Truth of the Path Leading to the End of Suffering

2.  Right Intention:
Intentions of Renunciation:
    Intentions Free from Hatred
Intentions of Non-Violence
3.  Right Speech:
Abstaining from the Four Forms of Wrong Speech:
    Lying
Divisive Speech
Harsh Speech
Idle or Foolish Talk
4.  Right Action:
Abstaining from the Three Unwholesome Actions:
    Avoiding Killing
Avoiding Stealing
Avoiding Sexual Misconduct
5.  Right Livelihood:
Avoiding a profession that violates moral principles.
6.  Right Effort:
Avoiding Unwholesome States:
    Overcoming Unwholesome States That Have Arisen
Arousing Wholesome States
Maintaining and Developing Wholesome States
7.  Right Mindfulness:
    Mindfulness of the Body
Mindfulness of Feelings
Mindfulness of Consciousness
Mindfulness of Mental Objects
8.  Right Concentration
(Mental Unification)

The Buddha taught that whoever follows the Noble Eightfold Path attains Arahantship.

To reach Nibbana (the final extinction of suffering), one must:
